Bacon + Caramelized Onion Sour Cream Party Dip

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons salted Crystal butter
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Crystal sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • For serving: potato chips, carrot and cucumber slices, celery sticks

Directions

  • Step 1

    In a large skillet, add olive oil and melt butter over low heat. Add sliced onions and stir until onions are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Sprinkle brown sugar over onions and stir to coat. Continue cooking over low heat, stirring occasionally for 35-40 minutes, until medium brown and caramelized. Remove onions from heat and let cool completely.

    In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese and sour cream together until smooth. Stir in crumbled bacon, seasonings and scallions. Gently mix in caramelized onions.

    Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving with your favorite dippers.
